Internal Exclusion Room Manager

Purpose: To have responsibility for managing the Internal Exclusion Room, IER and the students based there. The IER is located at the front of the school and is based in a self-contained building on the first floor, where students are sent for fixed periods of time for alternative to suspensions, returning from suspensions, or for failing to comply with the expectations in the main school.

Principal duties and responsibilities:

• Manage the day to day running of the Internal Exclusion Room, IER, by ensuring the resources are well maintained and the room is set up for the students each day

• Work with the Assistant Head Teacher (Behaviour) to establish clear rules and expectations of behaviour whilst students are in the IER

• Supervise the students in the IER throughout the day and ensuring they comply with the expectations, including the work during lessons and over break and lunch time

• Ensure students have access to work on MS Teams or alternative format and liaise with teachers if necessary

• Ensure the students complete their work to the best of their abilities so that they “pass” their time in the IER and can return to the main school, having demonstrated they can comply with our expectations

• Administration of the attendance, incidents and behaviour records for IER and supporting the AHT Behaviour with the analysis of the data

• Work alongside colleagues in the Pastoral Team and Behaviour Team to support the students in IER

• To attend any meetings relevant to the Behaviour and Pastoral Teams

• Liaise with parents/carers where necessary

Desirable qualifications

There are no essential qualifications for this role, however the following would be beneficial:

• GCSE or equivalent in English and maths

• Experience of working with children with emotional, behavioural and social problems

• Prior experience of working in schools

• Ability to use and interpret data

• Ability to present information to a variety of audiences, Pastoral Staff, teachers, parents, Senior Leadership Team

• Be self-motivated and enthusiastic and able to remain positive under challenging circumstances

• Have excellent administration and organisational skills, with a good working knowledge of ICT systems

• Have excellent interpersonal skills and empathy to become a valued member of the Behaviour Team
